The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga was started in 1981 by the Dharma Sara Satsang Society, a registered non-profit charitable organization.
Inspired by master yogi and silent monk Baba Hari Dass, the Centre was established as a peaceful, positive environment for teaching and practicing the ideals
of Classical
Ashtanga Yoga. He continues to be the inspiration behind the Centre's work.
The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga
fulfills its mission by:
-
operating a program facility for workshops and classes in yoga and
the creative and healing arts
-
offering natural healing methods, such
as Ayurvedic swedan massage and reflexology
-
providing a home to a residential community and the Salt Spring Centre School
One of our guiding principles is karma yoga, or the performance of our duty with an attitude of selfless service and enthusiasm. The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga's activities also adhere to the ethical principles outlined in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
