Expand and deepen your experience of yoga through Ayurveda, yoga's sister science of holistic wellness.
April 9 - 11, 2010
Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, is one of the practical applications of yoga off the mat.
"Ayur" means life, "veda" means knowledge, "yoga" means union. In this workshop, we take yoga into every aspect of our lives. Using classical ayurveda methods and philosophy, we will address:
- Diet, daily routines, stage-of-life needs
- Emotional, mental and physical balance and imbalances
- All systems are a go: restoring and maintaining optimum functioning on all levels
Ayurveda stresses a balance of three Humors or Energies: vata (wind/air), pitta (bile) and kapha (phlegm). According to Ayurveda, balancing these three regulatory principles, called Doshas, is essential for optimum health and wellbeing. When that balance is disrupted, our inherent wellness is compromised.
Ayurveda holds that each human possesses a unique combination of Doshas. Through understanding these combinations, one can then build a bridge to a supportive and balanced lifestyle, unique to each individual’s needs.
Expand your wellness tool kit with tips on:
- Blissful stress reduction practices
- Getting a good night sleep, night after night
- Specific yoga practices to balance your body type or Dosha
- Creating flexibility of body and mind, supporting expansion of spirit within
Learning and practicing together in this supportive workshop environment can open the door to positive change. The life-enhancing principles shared by Ayurveda and Yoga will give you the practical tools to create optimum wellness anytime and anywhere.
