Participant Testimonials
“I enjoyed being in a supportive space with people who are also seeking a more spiritual path in life, and a better understanding of self, and that this search is integrated into all aspects of one’s life.”
~ Margaret McCutcheon, 2009 KYSS Participant & 2010 Seasonal Karma Yogi

“I learned that what could be tedious work, when done instead with an attitude of service, is totally transformed into a gift of love. Everything has changed for me with this insight…Thank you for the opportunity to share and learn and grow in such a beautiful environment of love, spirit and peace. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this Centre and I look forward to coming back!” ~ Chrystel Vultier, Canmore, AB - 2009 KYSS Participant
“The best part was meeting loving, kind people; the community circles; the meditations; and living in a community of people whose priority is Love.” ~ Divya Prakasha, Vancouver, BC - 2009 KYSS Participant
“The Centre holds a space to allow transformation to happen. It's a wonderful, nurturing, peaceful place where I had a lot of fun and formed wonderful friendships in the process. I worked mostly in the garden and the kitchen. Everywhere you look in the garden there are beautiful flowers and veggies growing - and meals are prepared with love, beauty and intention, and served mindfully with care to people who come to the Centre." ~ Lauren Riley, Nanaimo, BC - 2008 KYSS Participant, 2009/10 Seasonal Karma Yogi
“I spent four months in the KYSS program last year (2008). I had come to the Centre to experience living in community, living and working on the land and to explore what it really meant to be of selfless service. Within days of my arrival I could feel the city energy leaving my body and I became more and more calm. I made several trips back to Vancouver during my stay and I found that I could bring the calmness of the Centre to the city with me. I enjoyed my time so much that I am back again this year for the season.”~ Daniel Shevchuk, Vancouver, BC - 2008 KYSS Participant, 2009/10 Seasonal Karma Yogi
“The centre combines my love of gardening, meditation and yoga - and surrounds it with beautiful and fun people.”~ Yoni Merion, Israel - 2008 KYSS Participant, 2009/10 Seasonal Garden Yogi

“I felt instantly comfortable and at home in such a beautiful setting. The community holds so much support, and opportunity for growth. Being present in this each moment helped develop awareness and opened my mind and body - mentally, physically and spiritually. Each new day brought revelations as we lived and learned together as One. My time at the Centre was very special and will always hold a place in my heart.” ~ Jenn Peripoli, Courtenay, BC - 2008 KYSS Participant, 2009 Seasonal Karma Yogi
“Near the end of a summer retreat, I was asked if I would be interested in offering my carpentry skills to some projects on the land. Without being certain why, I agreed on the spot. I left my job in Vancouver and was living at the centre within a few months of being asked. I moved there with little sense of direction or purpose, I left a year later a certified yoga instructor with a plan to travel to India and strong ties to the Centre, the community and the teachings. I've been involved there ever since.” ~ Lee Mason, Regina, Saskatchewan - 2004/05 Karma Yogi
“I worked with lots of joy, met such beautiful people, shared a peaceful time and many smiles with everyone...I loved being at the Centre!” ~ Akemi Takano, Tokyo, Japan - 2008/09 KYSS Participant

“I love the feeling of community at the Centre. It feels so natural to live with a group of others who are committed to a common purpose. Integrating spiritual practice into daily life is a breeze when you regularly hear people singing kirtan and see people sitting in meditation. The people at the Centre are so loving and trusting that it’s easy to feel like a full part of the community, and let your true self flow.”~ Kiva Bottero, Toronto, Ontario - 2008 KYSS Participant
