2008 Teachers - SSCY Drop-In Yoga Classes

Our fully qualified teachers will assist you in practicing yoga within your skill level, but you are ultimately responsible for understanding and respecting the limits of your own body. If you have any physical problems or injuries, please inform your teacher before class begins.

Aradhana Celeste Mallett has been teaching yoga for twenty -three years and has completed three Yoga Teacher Training programs in Sivananda Yoga, classical Ashtanga Yoga and Iyengar Yoga. Aradhana has served as Curriculum Developer and Senior Instructor for the Yoga Teacher Training at Mount Madonna Center (MMC) in California and currently is the Coordinator for Yoga Classes at SSCY. She has developed a highly successful teaching practice on Salt Spring Island, working with students of all levels and ages and in the fall of 2003, opened the Ganges Yoga Studio on Salt Spring Island, BC.

Dorothy Price has been a yoga practioner for over 30 years and completed her Yoga Teacher Training at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in 2002. She teaches all levels of yoga on Salt Spring Island, as well as weekend yoga getaways and an annual retreat in Mexico. Dorothy's teaching style includes sustained as well as flowing postures, with the aim of cultivating mindfulness through alignment and breath. She brings compassion and a deep love of yoga to her classes.

Dr. Alan Martin (Shankar) is Professor Emeritus in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of BC and holds degrees from Leeds University and UBC, a PhD in Kinesiology from SFU, and an Honorary Master Herbalist degree from the Dominion Herbal College. He completed the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training in 1973. He facilitates the weekly Bhagavad Gita discussions.

Cordula Vogt has been teaching yoga for five years and received certification through the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in 2002, and pre/post natal certification in 2004. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance. Through her 15 years of personal yoga practice, Cordula has studied with Celeste Mallet and Sheri Berkowitz. She teaches regular asana classes as well as classes specifically for seniors and pre/post natal women.

Rupert Adams, BSc, RYT-200, IAYT. A student of Yoga since the early 90's, Rupert is a former resident of the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science & Philosophy, a graduate of Moksana Yoga Centre's Teacher Training program in Victoria and resident staff at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. He is currently pursuing the 500 hour certification with Yoga Alliance and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Rupert teaches beginning and mixed level hatha classes as well as restorative Yoga and meditation on Salt Spring Island.

Loknath Lee Mason was introduced to master yogi Baba Hari Dass in 2002 and has been a student of Yoga ever since. He was a resident at the SSCY where he completed his Teacher Training in 2005. He has studied Yoga therapy with Kashi Richardson, Iyengar Yoga with Louie Ettling, and currently studies Vijnana Yoga with Gioia Irwin and Cathy Valentine. Loknath is currently teaching mixed level classes in hatha flow, power Yoga and men's Yoga on Salt Spring Island.

Arpana Patricia Galaczy - Celebrating 10 years of practice in Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Vijnana traditions with leading Teachers in India, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, Patricia practices and teaches Yoga with the intention of creating and holding space for the union of body, mind and breath and for the return to the true nature of the self. Patricia completed the SSCY Yoga Teacher Training in 2004 and is currently participating in the Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Training Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Centre and is a dedicated member of the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga and the Salt Spring Island Vipassana Community.
