Welcome to the Salt Spring Centre Farm!

Our 2012 season is underway and we are busy seeding, tilling, planning and dreaming of the delicious season ahead of us.

Organic farm seedlingsOur farm team thus far is made up of Jack Teng and Emily Adam. Jack comes to us from an intensive SOIL apprenticeship on Vancouver Island, and Emily comes to us from the Linnaea Ecological Garden Program after getting her farming training wheels in Ontario. We’re looking forward to the rest of our crew who will be joining us in the coming months, and to the many hands here at the centre who will be helping us out this season.

In addition to looking after our baby seedlings, we’re harvesting over-wintered parsnips and rutabagas galore left for us by the dedicated 2011 farm team, and our creative kitchen has been crafting unique meals with the bounty. Favourites so far have been parsnip gravy and parsnip fritters!

Salt Spring Centre Organic FarmA goal for our season is to build our community of eaters, that’s where you come in! You can support the farm and the centre by visiting us at the Saturday Market and by stopping by our farm stand at 355 Blackburn Road starting in May.

In addition to farm-updates and recipes, this page will tell you what kinds of veggies to expect each week at our farm stand. By signing up here , you’ll receive an email with this information.

Thanks for supporting local food!
