When
the path of Yoga is looked on as a healing journey,
it
can then be called Yoga Therapy.
In Yoga Therapy, the ancient sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda overlap, providing timeless truths and
holistic practices for the integration and healing of
body, mind and spirit. It is a system where yoga
practices are adapted and tailored to the specific needs
of the individual, promoting optimal healing and
well-being. The underlying premise is that self-healing
provides a necessary foundation for Self-realisation,
the fulfilment of one's highest potential.
During this introductory weekend, you become
familiar with the following basic concepts:
-
Structural anatomy - movement of joints and their
muscles.
-
The autonomic nervous system as it relates to the
stress and relaxation response.
-
Savasana and the therapeutic benefits of conscious
relaxation.
-
The five koshas - a yogic view of human anatomy.
-
Yoga asanas with an emphasis on structural
awareness, the doshas and affirmations for healing.
