Behind the hustle and bustle of the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, lies a calm in the storm. In a quiet corner of the main house is a sanctuary we call Housekeeping. Here in Housekeeping, deemed simply HK, the focus is to create a clean and welcoming environment of guest rooms, common spaces, camping facilities and yoga asana spaces.
We work as a team to ensure all of the spaces on the land have what they need. This begins with a process of cleansing and clearing, within and without. Together we set our intentions for creating sacred spaces on all the levels. A space that you can thoroughly enjoy and feel the love when you walk in. On the surface our service ranges from simply keeping things stocked and shining toilets, to power washing outdoor showers and scrubbing the sauna. Deep within, we are clearing out what no longer serves to create space for this NOW.
Our service is selfless and embodies the practice of Karma Yoga. We tend to start in the morning after sadhana and end when we all feel complete (spaces included). Our mindfulness practices certainly extend from the mat into the laundry room. We use local, non-toxic products and energy saving options as much as possible. We are committed to being a part of the solution, not the problem.
Our goal in Housekeeping is to create a sacred space everyone can find Peace in.
