Human Resource Coordinator (remote/ part-time)

The Human Resource Coordinator assists the Centre in recruiting new staff and volunteers, assists in organizing and scheduling orientations and addressing issues raised by staff and volunteers.  This role is also responsible for coordinating and overseeing training and development and any issues related to employment, compensation, labour negotiations and staff/volunteer relations.  Another aspect of this role is a focus on improving HR policies and procedures and recommending changes to management.  The Human Resources Coordinator is actively involved with the Centre Management and Area Coordinators in overseeing the recruitment, orientation and success of the 10-week Residential Karma Yoga Program in addition to some returning volunteers.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Assist in the recruiting process by advertising, interviewing, onboarding and orientating new staff, ad-hoc volunteers and volunteers applying through the Residential Karma Yoga Program
  • Manage vacation and sick leave calendar in collaboration with the Operations Coordinator
  • Provide interpersonal support and resolve conflict, being accessible to staff and volunteers either by email or phone
  • Answer staff and volunteer requests and questions
  • Collaborate and attend community circles at least once a month.
  • Monitor and manage employee filing system to ensure accuracy and compliance with regard to payroll and personal information
  • Assist with performance reviews, termination and exit processes
  • At least 2-5 years prior experience in a similar role
  • A combination of education and work experience in human resources process and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality
  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and email
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure HR objectives are met
  • A friendly and engaging personality, ability to problem solve and resolve conflict
